Dear Colleagues:
Welcome to the Teaching Geochemistry workshop. This workshop is part of
the On the Cutting Edge professional development program, funded by NSF
(Division of Undergraduate Education, CCLI-ND program), and sponsored by
the National Association of Geoscience Teachers. This letter confirms
your acceptance to the workshop. We have a really interesting mix of
participants representing very broad interests in geochemistry--this
should be a really exciting (and fun) workshop!
As the workshop approaches, we'll be communicating to the workshop
participants through this listserv. You can also use this listserv to
start pre-workshop discussions about Teaching Geochemistry by posting
queries or comments for consideration by the group. You can also find
information about the workshop (e.g. program, logistics, resources) at
the webpage:
http://serc.carleton.edu/NAGTWorkshops/geochemistry05/index.html
We would like you to officially register for the workshop (link on this
webpage) so that we can get an accurate count of participants, and we
also need you to download the Medical Emergency form and bring this with
you to the workshop. While you're on the website, you might want to
check out some of the on-line resources we've already assembled to
support Teaching Geochemistry. There's no cost to attend the workshop
courtesy of our grant from NSF, but you will be responsible for the
costs of your own travel, meals and lodging (see the Goldschmidt
Conference webpage for further details:
http://www.the-conference.com/2005/gold2005/index.php )
Please plan to travel to the workshop on Wednesday May 18th, arriving in
Moscow, ID by 5 PM in time for a welcoming reception and opening session
that evening. Workshop activities will be scheduled for all of Thursday
May 19 and Friday May 20, ending mid-afternoon that day (so there will
be a break before registration and opening sessions of the Goldschmidt
Conference).
We'll be sending more information in the coming weeks. For now, let us
welcome you to the Teaching Geochemistry workshop. Looking forward to
seeing all of you at the workshop and the Goldschmidt Conference.
With best wishes,
Dave Mogk
