Hi Folks, Welcome again to the Teaching Climate Change Workshop, and
welcome to those who have just recently joined us.
Here are a few updates:
1. Please remember to officially register for the Teaching workshop
AND for the AMQUA 2006 meeting. If you are making the effort to attend
the teaching workshop, I would strongly encourage you to also attend the
AMQUA meeting (these are two separate, but related events) - AMQUA has a
great schedule of field trips and technical sessions. You don't
absolutely have to attend both the teaching workshop and the AMQUA
meeting-but the whole show provides a great opportunity to see the full
spectrum of opportunities in research and education! PLEASE REGISTER BY
MAY 31-LATE FEES APPLY AFTER THAT DATE. (If you originally applied to
the Teaching Climate Change workshop on the Cutting Edge website, you
must also register and pay the workshop fee for the meeting at the AMQUA
site). Please take a moment now and submit your registration:
https://bsi.montana.edu/web/amqua/secure/register. We need accurate
attendance records to plan for sessions, meals, and other logistics.
2. One of the goals of the workshop is to develop a comprehensive
collection of on-line teaching activities and related resources. We have
developed a convenient on-line form for you to contribute a) URLs and
print references that you use in your own classes and b) teaching
activities (e.g. problem sets, labs, etc.) that you have developed.
These can be accessed at:
http://serc.carleton.edu/NAGTWorkshops/climatechange/share.html . For
the teaching activities, please fill out a few text boxes for contextual
information about each activity, and then you can simply upload any
files that are needed for the activity (e.g. Word documents, Excel
spread sheets, jpeg images, PDFs, etc.). We'll catalog and post these to
the website as part of a searchable database for resources and teaching
activities. You can check out some of the resources, teaching
activities, and climate data sets we've already compiled by following
the links on
http://serc.carleton.edu/NAGTWorkshops/climatechange/index.html
3. We'll be posting the workshop program and participant list in
the next day or two, so check out the workshop website periodically for
news and related information:

We're looking forward to seeing everyone in Montana this summer!
Best to all,
Dave Mogk
