Students find current values for world and US populations, the area of Texas, and the size of the average house in the USA. Students then look at ratios to assess land usage. * Critical thinking questions are needed.

Arctic Sea Ice Extent part of SISL:2012 Sustainability in Math Workshop:Activities
Students use the Arctic Sea Extent (total area) data from 1979 to the present to predict the trend in area for the next several years. Data is from the National Snow and Ice Data Center.
