"Breakfast, Brainpower, and Connecting Disciplines" part of Starting Point: Teaching and Learning Economics:Teaching Methods:Interdisciplinary Approaches to Teaching:Examples
Interdisciplinarity involves finding a creative tension–sometimes disciplines are complementary and sometimes they are in conflict. This example illustrates complementary aspects. This introduction starts with an NPR audio clip and then enables students to identify how disciplines differ in their focus in a manner that students can easily relate to since it relates to eating breakfast and performance at school.

Confronting the political economy of climate change part of Starting Point: Teaching and Learning Economics:Teaching Methods:Interdisciplinary Approaches to Teaching:Examples
This illustration shows where politics and economics collide in the context of climate change. It can also be used to illustrate why cap and trade has won out over carbon taxes in the political arena, though even that may not survive politics.
