Plume Busters part of Cutting Edge:Public Policy:Activities
Students take on the role of a consultant to solve an environmental problem that could have dire consequences for a nearby community. This activity can be used to initiate discussion on a range of public policy topics ranging from the impact of technology on environment to land-use practices.
GIS Skill Development and Exploration Using the High Plains Aquifer Databases part of Cutting Edge:Geoscience in the Field:Field Experiences:Posters
Students work with data bases and GIS to develop saturated thickness maps. Each data base consists of observations made by drillers where they have encountered the High Plains aquifer base and the annual water-level measurements taken in wells screened in the High Plains aquifer by field technicians.
