Contribute an Example

This form is provided to help the contributor create an example. It provides a mechanism for the contributor to submit materials and text into the example database. However, it does not support editing or the full range of formatting possible on example pages. SERC staff will work with the contributor to create a fully formatted and edited example page.

Title

The title is very important as it appears in the browse structure. It should be succinct but convey information about the topic and method of the example.

Author

Use this field to attribute the author of the example followed by the author of the example page. Any other credits for important contributions to the teaching materials can also be given here. For example:

Short Description

A brief (3 to 7 lines) description of the example intended to help the user decide if they want to look further.

Learning Goals

These can include content, skills, and higher order thinking goals. They should be specific and help the user understand the intent of the example activity.

Context for Use

Describe the context in which this example can be successfully used. For example, "This activity can be as a homework assignment or lab activity in an introductory geoscience course with climate change content. Instructors may want to use the Vostok ice core data to make graphs for interactive lecture or other graphical analysis activities."

Teaching Notes

This field can be used to pass on any information that will help faculty use the example successfully including:

• time needed for preparation
• in class time
• supplementary materials
• teaching tips

In this section please include all materials needed to implement the activity with any needed instructions for use. Materials can be referenced as urls or can be files uploaded to the site.
For materials located on a website, please provide description and urls here.

Please make sure the titles that you assign to documents will clearly identify their content and purpose.
For material that is intended to be read or printed, PDF/Acrobat files are preferred as they are the most consistent in preserving your intended formatting.
