2013 Call for Geoscience Literacy Exam (GLE) Assessment Assistance
Fill out this short form to express an interest in helping with the InTeGrate GLE assessment efforts.
The Geoscience Literacy Exam (GLE) probes concepts elucidated in recently released
science literacy documents. It includes a suite of questions that address the core content areas at the understand- or apply-level that would normally be covered in introductory classes. The exam set also includes an equal number of more challenging questions at the understanding- through analyzing- cognitive levels.
We seek faculty who are willing to use existing GLE questions in their classroom as a pre-/post- test, who can assist the team in developing new GLE questions, and/or who will help the team in building a computer-gradable essay question database by scoring essay responses.
Ways to help
Thank you for your interest in supporting the InTeGrate project in assessing the quality and impact of the Geoscience Literacy Exam (GLE). Please select the ways in which you are willing to help:
Ask existing pre- and post- GLE test questions in your class*
Author questions that will contribute to building the GLE question database
Score essays that will be used to build a computer-gradable database
* If you are willing to give your students pre and post tests, we will need you to obtain an IRB from your institution so that the data can be used in our assessment study. We can provide examples of the Carleton InTeGrate IRB to help make this process easier.
