Stipend Application
Applications deadline extended to September 20, 2011
Thanks to a grant from the National Science Foundation, we are able to support faculty from two-year colleges to attend and participate in the 2011 GSA Annual meeting. You may request funds up to your anticipated travel costs, registration fee, food, and reasonable lodging expenses. Awardees will be expected to register for and attend the Funding Opportunities for Two-year College Faculty: Possibilities, Challenges, and Successes short-course Saturday October 8th in its entirety (1:00-5:00 pm). Note that the link above will take you to a page with information about the short course but your will need to register (and pay the registration fee) through GSA.
We have limited funds and recipients will be selected based on their degree of participation in the GSA meeting (e.g. presenting authors will have priority over non-presenting authors, authors over those who will not be involved in a presentation) and other factors. Because our funds are limited, we encourage you to first pursue possible sources of funding on your campus, such as your department chair, dean, center for teaching and learning, or other faculty development program. To be supported by this funding, a participant must be either a U.S. citizen, a permanent resident, or in the employ of a U.S. institution. We hope that you will understand that this funding is intended to prevent our colleagues from having to pay to attend GSA out of their own pockets, and hope that you will limit your request to expenses that would not be otherwise reimbursed.
Applications must be received by September 20. Awardees will not be reimbursed per se, but receive a stipend for attendance and participation in the short course and events listed; as such, awards will be issued after the meeting. While awardees are not asked to submit travel receipts, they must provide tax identification information to Highline Community College before the award can be issued. Awardees will be contacted with complete instructions. If you have questions regarding the stipend awards, please contact Eric Baer via email: ebaer@highline.edu.
Awards will be limited to the cost of reasonable housing, food, actual registration costs for the meeting and short courses (no field trips), and airfare or other travel expenses via the lowest cost-option.
Adjunct faculty are encouraged to apply!
Remember to also register for the Saturday afternoon short course Funding Opportunities for Two-year College Faculty: Possibilities, Challenges, and Successes.
