  Description:
    Abstract:
      This map depicts fire progression in Yellowstone National
      Park (YNP) for fires in 1988, 1994, 1996, 2000, 2001,
      2002 and 2003.  All fire progressions were attributed with a unique
      identifier for linking with fire databases.
    Purpose:
      The primary objective of this mapping effort was
      to produce a map and GIS layer of fire progression
      for fires which were large enough to obtain fire perimeters
      and presented enough of a concern that their growth was
      monitored.  Through the use of the progression data the layer
      could be coupled with historic fire data to aid in the
      development of models and analysis.

      digitizing.  Polygons were later checked and updated from
      NBR satellite imagery.  Attribute information was entered
      manually and checked against fire history data layers.
