My map shows a buffered representation of significant earthquakes that are within 200 miles of convergent fault lines. Because I am a math teacher, I would work with the science teacher on the team to take the scientific data and apply mathematical concepts. Currently, some ideas I am thinking about are: ratios, pecentages and graphing. I think using the data in Excel form as a springboard for the math usage is a good idea. The concept that I think is most valuable is the visual aspect. If students are finding percents and/or ratios of certain data and that can be combined with mapping software, it will help students to have a visual representation of their work.
