It sounds like the investigation went well even though it was the first time many of your students had used excel. Great that you could adapt an existing lab to include this important technology.

Your lesson may have been late, but mine was WAY later! :), or maybe :(.
Sounds like your students thought maybe it was going to be too difficult for them to handle at first? I ran into that problem at first this year, but they eventually learned to trust me, in the sense that I wouldn't throw something at them that I thought they couldn't handle. I find that my lower-achieving students greatly appreciate that Excel can do the math for them, heh heh.
I haven't used ImageJ as much as I would have liked yet, but there are a few months left...I hope to stack mitosis in the next month...
