The Collaborating for Change initiative at APLU and USU has a new suite of tools for transforming institutions. The initiative, funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, works with public urban research universities that are focused on admitting, retaining, educating, and graduating high need, traditionally at-risk students while reducing costs, reexamining campus business models, and fostering mutually beneficial campus-community engagements. An example of a resource at Collaborating for Change is the Financial Indicators of Student Success.

A cohort of seven public urban research universities were engaged in the initiative: California State University, Fresno, Florida International University, Georgia State University, Portland State University, Temple University, University of Akron, and University of Illinois at Chicago.
