The mission of the Center for Research on College-Workforce Transitions (CCWT) is to conduct and support research, critical policy analysis, and public dialogue on student experiences with the transition from college to the workforce in order to inform policies, programs, and practices that promote academic and career success for all learners. There are 4 program strands that will guide Center activities: (1) students acquisition of 21st century competencies via teaching and training, (2) career counseling and advising, (3) hiring processes, and, (4) systemic reforms on skills-related issues.

The assistant director will coordinate and participate in the activities of the Center, including:
- Working closely with the Director and Advisory Board to refine the initial strategic plan for the Center;
- Developing a new research initiative pertaining to one of the Center's program strands, and working with UW-Madison faculty and staff to develop long-term research projects aligned with Center goals;
- Coordinating a monthly speaker series and assisting with preparation of policy reports and briefings to legislators and the media; and,
- Helping to design and implement a small grants program and assist with management of Center budget.

The successful candidate will possess a Ph.D. in education, sociology, economics or related social science field. Required qualifications include a working knowledge of higher education-workforce development issues, student affairs, and/or teaching and learning at the postsecondary level. Experience managing and developing academic programs and/or research projects, securing external funding, budget planning and oversight, and organizing symposia or conferences is required. A successful record of publishing in both scholarly and general public outlets, and proficiency with social media and dissemination of research findings to diverse audiences is strongly preferred.

The assistant director will be hired as a Researcher on a 12-month full time appointment for one year, with the option of renewal after the first year.
