STEM Transformation Institute Program Manager Position Florida International University

A Program Manager position is available at Florida International University (FIU) to coordinate administrative functions for the STEM Transformation Institute including carrying out the Institute's mission with the leadership team; collaborating on Institute policy development; managing collaborations among faculty, other FIU offices and external partners; guiding research proposal development; developing content for communications outlets; and assisting with internal and external events. The STEM Transformation Institute is a multidisciplinary collaboration across the FIU Colleges for the research and development of effective educational practices that lead to substantial increases in the number of well-prepared STEM professionals, including teachers, graduating FIU. Undertaking this challenge requires partnerships with local K12 systems and colleges, businesses and industry, foundations, and national education leaders in order to create an educational landscape that supports all students, coming through multiple pathways, and leading to a productive workforce. The STEM Institute capitalizes on the unique skills that FIU's diverse student population brings to their learning and ultimately the workforce. The Institute serves as a living laboratory that disseminates practices, policies, and STEM professionals across the nation.

Specific Duties: Management of STEM Institute activities; assisting with STEM education research proposal development; researching and developing background materials, data and reports for meetings; events and presentations; participating in the long-term strategic planning for the Institute; serving as a liaison to faculty and professional staff in the Institute; Coordinating the communication efforts for the Institute; and coordinating Institute special events, official functions and dignitary visits. The Program Manager will also request and prepare content information from Institute faculty and staff for newsletters, website and social media, and work with external relations personnel to prepare brochures and communications about special events. The manager will also serve as a point of contact for Institute-related inquiries and liaison with external agencies, partners and community leaders. The manager will also collaborate with staff to manage budgets.

Qualifications and Applications: Candidates must have a Master's degree in a STEM or relevant field. Preference will be given to candidates with PhDs and/or related experience. Candidates are expected to have excellent organizational, communication and writing skills.
