Ganges River Delta
This Landsat-7 false-color composite image shows sediment from the Ganges River as it flows through the Sunderbans, which refers the delta area, and into the Bay of Bengal.
Mississippi River Plume
This MODIS satellite image shows sediment plumes from the main branch of the Mississippi River as they move through the bayou region and into the Gulf of Mexico.
Eridanos Delta
This animation from INSTARR is based on seismographic interpretation of Neogene basin fill of the North Sea. It shows the seaward migration of the Eridanos Delta over nine million years as it deposited 1500 meters of sediment in the North Sea Basin. Clicking on the back button on your browser gives more information about the delta and provides a link to an accompanying journal article.
Volga Delta
This INSTAAR animation, derived from numerical simulation, depicts Holocene evolution of the Volga delta over the last 10,000 years. The animation shows how the depocentre of the delta migrated up to 120 km along the coast of the Caspian Sea.
