Cutting Edge Regional Workshop Opportunities
We seek proposals for one-half or one-day workshops on topics that have been offered by Cutting Edge in the past including Teaching X (e.g. Petrology, Hydrogeology, etc.), Emerging Themes (e.g. Affective Domain, Teaching with New Tools, Teaching Public Policy, etc.), Career Preparation, and Course Design. See a full list of Cutting Edge workshop topics for additional possibilities.
Proposed workshops could be
- ½ or 1 day events offered in association with NAGT or GSA regional meetings
- 1 day stand-alone events for a specific group (e.g. a regional consortium of community colleges or a group of graduate students interested in pursuing careers in academia)
- part of a special conference or activity (e.g. a meeting on the scholarship of teaching and learning)
- something we haven't thought of yet
To fully integrate these regional workshops into the Cutting Edge program and to maximize the use of existing resources, workshop leaders with successful proposals will attend a one-day leadership workshop where they will learn about Cutting Edge program goals, design principles, and website tools. This workshop will provide an opportunity to work with Cutting Edge PIs to design the regional workshop, and to work with the Cutting Edge evaluation team to design its evaluation. Funding will be provided to attend this leadership workshop. In addition, a $1000 leader stipend will be provided to each leader on completion of the proposed regional workshop. However, the regional workshop must be financially self-supporting.
To apply to lead a Cutting Edge regional workshop during Winter 2008 to Fall 2009, please complete the application form prior to October 1, 2008.
