WHOLE ROCK ANALYSIS - INAA Instrumental Neutron Activation Analysis Irradiations for Ar-Ar geochronology.

Whole-rock analysis (major and trace element)

Typical Use:

Multi-element analysis of bulk samples, for precise characterization of major and trace (ppm - ppb) elements.

Conditions for Use:

Submitted samples will be analyzed on a contract basis (i.e. lab personnel will do the work)

See website for current fee schedule. Discounted rates available to academic projects without outside funding, especially preliminary or pilot studies.

Sample Preparation:

Approx. 200-500 mg of powdered sample is irradiated; typically no pretreatment is required.

Standard Collections/Lab Blanks:

Element concentrations are determined through direct comparison with NIST standards, usually 1633a, 688, or 278; other standards available.

Class demonstrations are available for undergraduates.
Class demonstrations are available for K-12.
Undergraduate student research projects are invited.
