Instrument Type

ICP-AES coupled with microwave assisted whole-rock digestion system

Application:

Whole-rock analysis (major and trace element)
Fluid or gas analysis

Typical Use:

Bulk geochemical composition of rocks, sediments, biological material, and liquids.

Conditions for Use:

Submitted samples will be analyzed on a contract basis (i.e. lab personnel will do the work).
Visitors are invited to work in the lab to work with lab personnel.
Visitors are invited to work in the lab to design and do the work yourself.

User Fees:

The cost for sample prep and analysis, which includes total rock or sediment digestion and multi-element analysis (up to 12 elements) is $50/sample.

Instrument Priorities:

Relatively open use of the instrument is available.

Standard Collections/Lab Blanks:

We perform standardization with certified standards, and blanks and comparative standards using NIST solid reference materials.

Software:

Concentrations of elements of interest can be electronically transferred in excel format.

Educational Use:

Graduate student research projects are invited.
